If anyone would have told me when I was 20 that at age 40, I'd be golfing and playing tennis, reading and drinking coffee, and finally learning to relax, I wouldn't have believed them.  Yet, I guess at age 15 if anyone would have told me that I'd do multiple marathons and Ironmans and be a physical therapist and be married to a Navy guy, I would have thought they were crazy!!! Having our niece Lexton out here at 15 really made me think about life, about how the things that make us happy when we are young are not necessarily the things that will continue to make us happy.  How different her life is at 15 than ours were.  Social media, snapchat, phones in general....wow, they complicate things!  I'm so thankful that I grew up when and where I grew up, and with whom I grew up.  Things were pretty simple in the middle of nowhere in Missouri and although I would not want to live there again, I am super thankful that I came from there.  I am thankful for the f...

I was supposed to blog yesterday, but I was at Girls Weekend in Idyllwild about 2 hours northeast of San Diego.  We were very busy doing absolutely nothing and loving it.  We stayed in a cabin and pretty much talked, drank wine, ate a bunch of food, laid on the couch and recliners by the fire and worked on our Happiness Projects!  We also did some puzzling too!  There were no laptops, very little TV other than a few Youtube showings of the Fitness Marshall and Carpool Karaoke. And we also enjoyed plenty of laughs! This is what I posted to Facebook:  Girls weekend Idyllwild, CA was some of the best, relaxing girl time I've had in quite some time. I came away with an overwhelming feeling that we al...

Well, Sunday I was supposed to blog, but we were a little busy running a half marathon!  It went well and I finished in 1:57.  I was in pain every step with my back and my knee, so I am calling it quits on long races!  I am very happy with my decision and my body will be too!  No one really believes me about this, but it is true.  It was a good long "run" of races starting in 2001, so 18 years of events with friends and family, pushing our bodies to the max, and raising money for good causes (not that this will cease because I'm not doing long distance races). I did 5 Ironmans, 6 or 7 marathons, many half marathons, many half ironmans and too many to count olympic, sprint tris and 5ks or 10ks.  I love the energy that comes with planning these with friends, raising money, helping others to get in shape, preparing my body for the race both mentally and physically. On race day, it's so nice to see like minded people out there pushing their bodies and minds ...
