This is my last blog of January, so I will report on how well I did on my goals this month!  I gave myself a green check for every single day of the month except one, when I did not do my back exercises or get my 10,000 steps in....it happened to be the night of Dustin's ships party, where I allowed myself to have a couple glasses of wine. Other than that night, I allowed myself to have some wine while Kat and Scott were here, but only one of the nights.  Not drinking alcohol really hasn't been as hard as I thought.  I was hoping that my body would feel better by now, being that my back tends to feel better when I'm hydrated, but I didn't really notice a difference. Of course, we saved money not buying drinks out and also staying in for dinner at home more this month too. I've enjoyed our down time immensely! It's nice to not have something going every night of the week and then 6 different activities on the weekends too! It's nice to just be able to rela...

Do you ever just wake up on the wrong side of the bed?  That was me this morning, despite my weekly goal of singing and dancing in the morning.  I turned on some tunes, tried to sing "Oh what a Beautiful Morning", I was just low on energy and not motivated to get out of bed to do my charting for work.  When I get too behind with work stuff, I definitely get moody, so I'm going to try harder not to do that.  I just hate to do it at night when Dustin is here because I could be spending time with him, but during the day, I'm motivated to get things done that require moving. Plus this puzzle obsession is really starting to affect my productivity!  Just a couple pieces turns into 15 minutes real quick!  I did see 6 patients today and was a bit drained when I came home, so I had another coffee and tried to get some charting done but didn't get very far.....after Dustin got home, he went for a longer run and I met him at the pier and my body just felt YUCK, my ...

Despite the rainy weather we have had the last few days, I was able to run to the pier this morning in between the rain.  It was simply so beautiful, way different clouds than you normally see in San Diego area.  So far, I have 15 green checks on my Happiness Project and I'm feeling great!  At times, I feel selfish for working on my happiness more, but I find I help others and the environment more when I am happier. This morning, I just felt at peace.......so I just donated to American Cancer Society and I wrote a letter to Priscilla, the child we sponsor in Uganda. Dustin's Mom is going there tomorrow to visit and she's doing a great job with her non profit, very inspiring!!! When I'm focused on goals, I am happier, that is for sure!  Dustin is being super, super supportive in my goals too, which helps!  We've been doing a 30 minute Yoga workout on Youtube once a week and I'm so happy that we were able to compromise (he does not like to go to the classes o...

One of my energy boosting goals this week is to gain energy from the ocean every day. I start my goals on Sundays and so far, so good!  Nature truly does give me energy and calms me all at the same time, especially the ocean.  The Happiness Project is going so well!  I've given myself 8 green checks out of 8 days and I'm feeling great....focused, yet relaxed!  I've worked out every day this month except on the 1st.  I've not had an ounce of alcohol, even at a birthday happy hour last night!  We've been not eating bw 7 pm and 8 am, going to the beach, portion control, working out, getting 10,000 steps in, doing Duolingo and Spanish verbs everyday, and flossing! Plus my Wednesday goal of blogging and my Thursday goal doing yoga and putting the phones in airplane mode for the whole night.  That one was the hardest, but last week it was nice because we drove up to Coronado to see a movie at night, and usually I'm on my phone answering emails, or doing w...

The Happiness Project for our group started 3 days ago and I'm feeling great!  I'm focusing on BOOSTING ENERGY and so far, I've done well with exercising, getting outside, organizing, getting good sleep and not drinking alcohol.  Dustin and I have both been focusing on more laughter to energize us and it's so easy to do!  I did set my goal to blog every Wednesday and that did not happen yesterday, but one day late isn't bad.  It was SO nice to get back to spin class this morning!  We were in France and Kansas City for the last half of December, so sticking to working out was hard there.  We were able to get some hikes and runs in while in beautiful Annecy and on our trip to Chamonix to ski at Brevent.  This picture is from the train ride up the other side of the mountain there. It was breathtaking!  I journaled most of it in my written journal too! Then we went to Kansas City to spend quality time with family.  We were really lazy there ...
